Missions

As First Christian Church in Kimberling City has been blessed, so we have the responsibility to share the blessing by seeking to take God's Word to the ends of the earth.  Our desire is to reach beyond the walls of our local congregation by evangelizing,  discipling, and aiding in relief and development - thus providing for both the spiritual and physical needs of people.  Jesus called us to impact the world with the Gospel. We do this through our regular support of the following missions:

The Navajo Nation mission trip to Red Sands, AZ. was a huge success! Go to our picture gallery page and look at all the wonderful pictures of our trip.

Prayers & Squares Quilt Ministry

quilt_ministry

The purpose of this ministry is NOT to make and distribute quilts, but to promote prayer through the use of quilts. These quilts are made available to those who are having health issues, facing surgery, illness or difficult life changes.

The quilts are hung in a very visible location for each of our Sunday Services.  There will be an information sheet accompanying each quilt that gives the name of the person, the reason for prayer and specific prayer requests.  After you have offered a silent prayer for the person, tie a knot in a string.

The Quilt with multiple knots in the strings is something tangible that continually comforts and is a constant reminder of the many prayers offered on behalf of the recipient!

The idea behind these quilts is simple. A heavy thread is used to take stitches through the quilt layers, and the ends are left free to be tied with a square knot. As each knot is tied, a silent prayer is said for the person to whom the quilt is being given. It becomes a physical manifestation of all the prayers offered on his/her behalf.

The quilt is a statement of faith in God and His power to comfort, strengthen, and heal. But the greatest need of all is PRAYER for the quilt recipients and that God will use Prayers & Squares Quilt Ministry to touch lives for HIM!

Who Recieves a Quilt?

Should a quilt recipient need prayer again at a later time, bring the quilt to the church office.  The quilt will be hung again with new prayer requests.

There is no monetary obligation on the person requesting the quilt or the recipient. The Prayer Quilt Ministry continues year after year because of our faithful donors.

Prayers and Squares - 2nd & 4th Mondays, 9:30am in Owens Hall

Care Ministry - "Samaritans"samaritans

This ministry is designed to show love and care to people who attend First Christian. Because of the broad range of possible needs the Samaritans Ministry functions as an umbrella structure with coordinators and a list of people willing to serve under that umbrella. As varying needs arise, people are contacted to fulfill those needs ranging from meals during times of high stress or crisis, to making care calls or hospital visits. These members reach out showing love, availability to pray for needs or to simply share a praise! Lead contact for this ministry is Ken Madura at 417-294-3388

Food Pantryfood_pantry

Sometimes people need a helping hand getting back on their feet. First Christian Church is happy to help with our Food Pantry on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am - 4pm. As there has been an increasing need, we work with Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC) to assist in a more expedient way. Recipients must first go by OACAC and obtain a referral before we can distribute pantry items. OACAC is located in the lower level of Claybough Plaza in Branson West, MO.

Children

kid_zoneSunday School
Sunday Mornings @ 9:30 - We challenge kids to grow in their faith through in-depth and hands-on Bible Study. Our Sunday School teachers strive to help kids understand who God is and what the Bible teaches. We currently offer one elementary Sunday School class.

Kids Church
Sunday Mornings @ 11:00 - This service is an exciting and high-energy worship service for kids in K-6th Grade. Kids Church provides kids with an opportunity to worship God through songs, prayers, communion, offering, and a Bible lesson.

Preschool
Sunday Mornings @ 10:30 - We offer an age-appropriate class for children ages 2 through 5. Preschoolers will learn important Bible truths in a fun and creative setting that uses all their senses. Our curriculum has a great variety of activities, crafts, and games to reinforce the lesson.

Nursery
Sunday Mornings 9:30 & 11:00, Wednesday nights @ 6:00
Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which Biblical teaching and unconditional love are demonstrated, so that a life-long relationship with Jesus can begin. We staff our classes with committed and skilled adults that develop positive relationships with your baby. This helps your child to begin to see church as a safe, loving, and fun place to be. The Nursery, for children from birth through 24 months, is located adjacent to the Fellowship Hall foyer called "Babyland".

Wednesdays
We engage kids in lively worship and challenge kids to grow in many different areas as they learn to serve and minister both in and outside of the church. Our program is available to 2-year-olds through 6th Grade starting at 6:00 pm. Nursery care is also provided on Wednesday nights. Wednesday night programs only meet when the Reeds Spring schools are in session.

Students - The Cruxcrux_logo

On Sunday mornings at 9:30am, Students are challenged to go deeper into Scripture to get a better understanding of how God's Word impacts their lives today. Class meets upstairs in the youth room over the fellowship hall.
